Q: Do B.B. guns and air guns leave marks?
My dog is very high anxiety. It is obvious that he was not treated very well in previous homes (yes homes, with an s). He is currently about a year old, and I adopted him from the shelter 6months ago. He has come a LOOOONG way. Though last night there was a party or something in the neighborhood and like always people talking set him off and he barked (once or twice), he usually with give me a few more barks after a "No" (he is not a big barker, my landlords love how quiet he is). Anyway my point is this, some one set off a firecracker or gun shot and Fresco just about had a heartattack and bolted under the bed to the farthest corner and did not move or make a sound for nearly 30minutes!!! Is it possible that some one shot at him before? The shot was not nearby (at least 4 or 5 houses away) not unusually loud. He doesn't appear to have any scars, but he knew to get away and stay away at that sound....What do you think?

I doubt it. Dogs have much better hearing than we do, so a pop that isn't terribly loud to us... is terribly loud to a dog, or horse, or cat, etc. All of my animals are afraid of such noises until they are desensetised (sp?) to it. One of my dogs gets upset when you pop bubble wrap.
