What is a good food to feed a cat who has lymphocytic-plasmacytic enteritis?

This is the closest thing I can find to Comrade's symptoms, but I don't want her on a prescription diet considering how much weight she's lost.

That's a form of Inflammatory Bowel Disease, isn't it? Minnie has IBD. The diets tend to depend on the cause, which can be bacteria, food allergies, parasites, injury, infection, or a number of other things. Basically you have to do an elimination diet using homemade foods. Most prescription foods don't help all that much anyway. You can also try some of the foods that have ingredients that won't trigger an allergic reaction, like duck or venison...ingredients that aren't common in most commercial foods. That way Comrade won't have any antibodies against those ingredients so there won't be that internal battle that causes inflammation. Natural Balance, EVO, Royal Canin all have duck and/or venison varieties. They usually have either green pea or sweet potatoes and the carbohydrate. IBD usually causes vitamin and mineral deficiencies because the small intestine can't absorb the nutrients due to the inflammation. Add extra vitamins and minerals, especially folic acid and B12. These two help the bowel to heal itself.
