I think dropping of any sort can have the possibility of having parasites in them....even their own droppings. If your pooch has been known to "clean up" the area, I'd check with your vet on his/her recommendation about having your dog checked for intestinal parasites.

A dog can get sick from eating any droppings, bird poo being the worst, call the Vet and ask if you can bring in a sample of of you dogs poo, it doesn't take long to get the results, usually same day and about $25.00 well worth it if you can find out before you dog gets something, my 1 eats everything and she ate bird see that had bird poop, gave it to my other girl, sunday afternoon they had everything coming out of both ends, had to call my Vet at home so bad I've been going to him for 16 yrs, thats why I got him on a Sunday, was so bad along with antibiotics I had to give liquid charcoal to stem the vomit, save yourself & bring a sample

I have not had problems w/my dogs eating deer droppings but they were getting into other dogs droppings ang or vet said to try and curb the behavior because they can catch whatever the animal may have that left it. I would assume if the deer had something contagious the same rule would apply. Also it is a bad source of intake as a opposed to their food. If he is eating droppings he is eating less high protien food
