Q: Cockatiel and Cleaning.

June 24, 2008 | By Suzq53 | 2 answers | Expired: 2275 days ago

Does anyone use are know anything about using CytraSolv around a very young cockatiel? I am trying to find bird safe cleaners before my new bird comes home. I have GSE, and have been reading up on using Baking Soda but need a safe cleaner for use on floors and harder to clean areas around the house. Thanks for any advise.

Birds (as you know) are very sensitive to chemicals and ANY inhalant/smell, so, I always tell anyone cleaning their cages to be extra careful and make sure to do cleaning (other than just soap and water) with products that are specifically made to clean bird cages or those that do not have any scent (chemical or fragrance.) Its always best to clean the cages in a well ventilated area AWAY from your bird, and let the cage air out so all smells are gone.

There are tons of other things you can use to clean, that work as well, or better than chemicals! Like vinegar! Vinegar is a great cleaner/deodorizer and it is really cheap and safe to use around birds. :]
