Q: Chihuahua constantly licking

Chihuahua constantly licking
My chihuahua, China will try to lick my arm if I'm holding her & if I'm barefooted she tries to lick my feet. I have to constantly tell her NO. My poodle, Chara only tries to lick me when I'm playing w/ her. Both ar spaded. Just curious.

My dog Aran does this to my husband all the time. And I could never understand why she was licking him so often. I like Kelly's responses about how the dog loves you and wants your attention. Aran adores my husband and it makes sense that she is just giving him love right back.

Could be one of several reasons. She may be drawn to the taste of your lotion, sweat, or anything else on your skin. We excrete salt throughout the day, so she may be attracted to that. It may just make her happy or she may think it makes you happy. She could be saying she loves you or she wants your attention. Or if you give her treats or toys to distract her when she does it, she could be trained to lick in order to get her treats/toys/attention/whatever "reward" she gets when she does it.
