When Shorty picks on Teddy she just runs from him or curls up in a ball and growls at him but the last couple of days Teddy has gotten incredably visous with Shorty and Scared him so much he has been hiding Teddy has never been like this when Shorty has picked on her before and Teddy and him have been living in the same house for a long time together both since they where kittens but Shorty is younger than Teddy by a couple years but why would Teddy have this sudden change in her behavior?

If I remember correctly, Teddy is the kitty with severe health problems. It's probably an indication of how she's feeling. A cat that doesn't feel well or is in pain, is and feels vulnerable. Because of this they may show aggression to other animals. I had a cat that shattered her hip and she growled at me when I approached her. She was in pain and didn't want to be bothered. We had to just deal with her aggression and gently move her so we could transport her to the vet. Cats want to be left alone when they're sick or hurting.

I agree with the illness/pain theory. You've written about the time coming when you'll have to take her to the vet for the last time. She's probably in pain. She's not 100% and she feels the need to protect herself.
