Q: Change in nose color

October 3, 2011 | By Babykat | 1 answer | Expired: 1016 days ago

My eleven-month old Shih Tzu's nose is gradually changing from black to pink. It started from the area below the nostril and moving slowly and in patches to the lip and top of the nose. Aside from this, there are no lesions or crusting or wounds on the nose. She is still her usual playful self.

What could be the reason for the change in nose color.

It could be genetics or maybe snow nose. If she uses plastic bowls, she could have developed an allergy to them, which can result in a reaction where her nose loses pigment. Your vet would be able to narrow down the cause.
