I am fostering a kitten and I have an older 7 yr old cat whom only will hiss at her when she walks by her ( my older cat shows no signs of wanting to hurt/scratch her) so anyhow my older cat wont hang out , instead she's in the bedroom laying under the bed. I want her to come out and be around us all including the foster kitty...my question is that if I do adopt the foster kitty will my older cat eventually grow to take intrest in the kitty? The reason i'm wanting to know is becasue my older cats partner passed away about 7 months ago and they were pals and i would like to find Kally a kitty friend...or is it possible Kally wants to be the one and only kitty.
Thanks for any answers, mucho appreciation.

Jealousy is a human emotion. It sounds like they are just communicating in their own language and they need to sort things out for themselves. When they do, their social space will be respected by each other.

I foster kittens all the time and my cats do that same thing, the normally get over it. Just give it sometime, theirs no way of knowing if they are gonna ever get along. She did just lose her friend, shes probably depressed. As for the hissing shes just showing the new kitty whos boss, that this is my territory.

Usually they will get along eventually but it sometimes takes awhile. It took Tazi and Terror awhile to become best friends.
