September 24, 2010 | By Animalwarrior | 5 answers | Expired: 1389 days ago

Hi I would like to know what type of products I can use on my cats they currently got fleas and I and I have tried some shampoos but they seem to just faint the fleas but not kill them. I have also noticed that my cats are loosing bits of hair from over scratching I myself can't stand the flea bites on my ankles.

If you live in mountains frontline is the best but if you live in town advantage would be the best.

DO NOT use over the counter flea products. I made the mistake and lost both of my cats. Go to your vet and get a vet recommended product like advantix or frontline. I have found that my dog does better with frontline. The advantix makes him itch. Hartz should be pulled from the shelves !!!

Before you use anything do your researcha nd get recommendations from vets. Many products like Hartz, Sergants and others can eithr burn, injure, cause illness or death. My aunt and uncles dog is a survivor of this(before my aunt and uncle adopted him someone used one of these products on him). Good luck.

The spot on products such as Advantage and Frontline are very good products and recommended by Vets. You can purchase them on line, at a Vet's office or a pet store. You will need to apply this product once a month on your cats. You can also purchase a comb, to help comb out the fleas on your cat. If your cats are indoors cats, you will need to thoroughly vaccum and clean any pet bedding, carpet, curtains, etc. and consider using a fogger to get rid of the fleas that may be in your house. If you do that, make sure to read the directions on the can for safety and never have your animals in the area while you are using a fogger. Good luck!
