if the mass feels like hard tapioca, thats breast cancer. my dog had it when she was 6 or 7. these lumps grow fast, within a matter of weeks, so your vet should look at it immediately.

Yes they do. My parents passed away and left behind a chihuahua and she came to live with us. She had a teat with a lump (mass) on it. We took her to the vet and they removed it and it was cancer. I was concerned about having it removed at her age (14) but the vet said if I didn't the mass would bust and it was painful to her and she chewed her paws. About 6 months after the first mass was removed she developed another one on a different teat. She would not survive another surgery so we let it go until she had pain and had her put down at the age of 16. She had not been spayed until she was 7. The vet said had she been spayed earlier she probably wouldn't have developed the cancer.

The quick answer to this question is YES.
Un-spayed females are more prone to be affected.
I would get your vet to check it out, any mass should be checked by a vet, as cancer in dogs spreads quickly.
Getting treatment early could save your dogs life.

Yes, dogs can get cancer on their teats. My Pandy Bear had to have 2 of them removed, but she lived a wonderful 16 years with me...and one of my other beagles, Coco, too had to have her teat removed. But it's best to have them biopsied just incase.

when most people think "breast cancer", they think human, and they think female. actually, yes, dogs and other animals can get breast cancer...and so can males, including human men, though it is far less common in males. remember Rod Roddy, former announcer for The Price is Right? he had breast cancer. no kidding.

Yes, they can get breast cancer. My adopted Lab Mix had a mastectomy in July of 2007. She was not spayed until she was at a shelter in 2004, when she was about 2 years old.

Yes dogs can get almost any kind of sickness that is out there. Because of the same reasons that cause people to become ill.
