Q: Can anyone tell me if Petco is a safe place to buy one?

We are looking to buy our first rabbit and I have researched the care for rabbits, but just need to know if it is safe to buy one from Petco or Petsmart.

I wouldn't say it is unsafe, but keep in mind that alot of the pet stores get their pets from pet mills. If you can, go to the shelter. In some cases they dont have shots and may not have seen a vet but you can always go to the vet. If you want to though, get it from petco. Its your decision.

Go to petfinder.com to find rabbits up for adoption in your area. I adopted my rabbit from a shelter. PetSmart does not sell rabbits (that I am aware of). Petco generally does. I wouldn't buy from a petstore though. Adoption should always be your first option.

you need to really check the pet over as alot come from pet mills if at all possible it is better to get your pets from private breeders
