Eighteen hours is long time to be on a plane. Hopefully you can sleep through some of it. I never can sleep while flying but I like to read. So I would suggest taking some good books, a puzzle book, a computer or DVD player or an MP3 player and headphones. Take information about what you plan on doing once you arrive in Israel that you can look at during the flight. As far as ear pain, try chewing gum or yawning. You can also get ear plugs that slow the change of pressure. I’ve never tried them so I can’t say if they work or not. Enjoy your vacation!!

portable video games. movies and books are nice, but i find its hard to focus on them longer than a few hours. however, if you have a good video game, you can keep busy for several hours on end before you even think to look at a clock. if you have a laptop, try wizards of warcraft. i've never played it, but my nephew was so involved in it that he wouldn't make it to class or even remember to eat. personally, i'm a kingdom hearts sorta gal.
