Q: Bladder Stones

I have been worried about my cat because he has been shaking his head in such a fashion as to suggest URI... probably a result of me bring it from the shelter.

So I took him to my vet and she did an x-ray on the new digital machine they have. Nothing was wrong except a bladder stone. My question is this. My little boy is acting weird. He is having trouble sitting, he is racing back and forth to the litter box, his coat looks disheveled, and he is licking more than normal. Can this JUST be a bladder stone or do I need to look further?

I, too, would get a second opinion. I had a cat die from Feline Urological Syndrome (FUS) which was misdiagnosed and, therefore, not treated properly. It was a painful death for which I still fell could have been prevented had the cat be diagnosed properly. Here is a website whichmay help: maxshouse.com/feline_urological_syndrome_fus.htm

I think I would be getting a second opinion. Sounds like there is more going on than that vet saw. Good Luck.

Hi Cully,
I am not a vet, but it sure sounds as though he's in pain or distress....I would at least try to take him in to see if the vet can give him something to help him pass it &/or for the pain.....Sorry I wasn't more help to you....
