Ok I thought my puppy snuggins was a full blooded black lab not so sure now. He has shaggy hair not do black labs have shaggy hair or they smooth? Plus he hasn't grown into his skin for some reason. I just wonder if this is all side affects of having parvo when he was a couple months old. Now everyone has me really curious my oldest dog looks like a newf and they said she was a collie/lab mix I really don't care what breed they are they are all my babies and very spoiled downloaded some pictures sorry they are not the greatest but they was taken with my cell phone

my black lab is pure bred and she has somewhat of a wavy coat and we saw both of her parents. so you may have a pure bred. just as long as your dog is all one color, like all black without any areas of white, some labs can have smooth or wavy fur.

I have seen both smooth and wavy coated labs. Like you say though, they are your babies no matter what!!

yes, it is possible that you have a purebred lab because our purebred yellow lab has a very wavy coat.

If it is important to you, they now do DNA tests on dogs to determine the breed(s). Figure about $100.00 for the tests.

We have a blacklab/german shephard that has the longer wavy coat. So we were told he is blk lab/g.shep....he looks like another breed maybe newfy. We were at the shelter welcoming zootoo and so many people came up to me asking if he were a newfy.... I love my dog no matter what he is...but I am curious sometimes.

Your dog might not be all lab. One of my friends dogs DJ isn't all Border Collie he's also a german shepard.

Did you purchase the dog from a breeder of Labs? No, obviously he isn't a purebred. Dogs do take time to grow "into their skin" as you say. So long as you love him, I assume it doesn't matter what he is.

My lab has longer hair around her shoulders, but it's short hair. Do you have a picture?
