Q: Bird small -- HELP

I found a small bird (sparrow?) that is probably too young to fly -- what do i do to keep him/her alive and strong enough until ready to go off on his own? Right now, he's on a ledge probably hoping his mom will come to feed him. What do I do? Please help.
