Q: Best Pet Insurance?

Hi, I have 5 pets - 3 dogs and 2 cats. Does anyone have any thoughts on what the best and most affordable pet insurance is? I would prefer one that at least partially covers the regular stuff (i.e. heartworm, vaccinations, etc.) in addition to emergency and/or serious illnesses (i.e. cancer). Thanks so much!

The best insurance you can have is set up a savings plan and set aside a certain amount of money each month to your emergency pet fund. Even savings account earn a little interest so that monthly dollar you spend will always be growing. Pet Insurance has so many clauses, They don't cover breed specific problems, pets age out quickly. It's really only good for catastrophic incidents, and then you'll be surprised how little the do cover. What they cover is based on national cost averages. if you live in a large metro area where vet costs are high you'll find they cover much less than if you live in a rural area where fees tend to be lower.

Just be sure to read all of the information before signing on. I believe I had VPI pet insurance for my dog who passed away this year. Each year would start new. So if your animal had a condition come up in Dec.2008(cancer, heart, etc.) on Jan 1 that condidtion would be considered a preexisting condition and would not be covered.
