Based on today's economy have your spending habits changed when it comes to your pets?

What are you still willing to spend on your pets? Do you or have you bought premium and holistic foods, treats, toys? Will you still by boutique items if you were buying them before? (clothes, hair bows,etc..) I have 4 dogs and yes things are tough sometimes but somehow I always manage to put aside the money for not only nessessities but those special things as well. Just wondering what everyone else feels!

I haven't changed how I spend for my pets, including my fosters. We don't have any need for boutique items but they all still get new toys & accessories. I still buy their favorite foods & treats, premium foods, plus two of my cats are on prescription food. They all go to the vet when needed & I often bring something home for them. Nothing has changed except that we are spending even more money because we've had 3 new rescues this summer. If it came down to it, I would do without something so their lives wouldn't change.

most people are still willing to spend a little extra on their pets even when their finances are down. i guess i can understand that b/c it's a few bucks here, a few bucks there - rarely ever being a large sum on any given item. keeping your pet on the same food and mostly the same lifestyle is just easier to justify than buying yourself new clothes or treats.
for the most part, i haven't changed anything about my pets diets...though i have gotten more diligent on treat time. they still get toys, but now i'm more thrifty on what they get. the only thing that's been a real drawback are the items they never actually needed in the first place - meaning, they're not getting anything just b/c i think it's cute. for instance, i found some dog bowls that i would love, but my animals don't care about aesthetics so i had to to pass.

I still buy the best pellets and hays but I don't spend extra money on toys. I am cost conscious about the veggies I buy. I look for the best buys when selecting which vegetables to choose, but only select what's good for them and fresh. I only give them bottled water and never tap.
