Q: Barking at play dates
March 9, 2009 | By Anonymous | 3 answers | Expired: 1523 days ago
My puppy is usually well-tempered and does not bark unless provoked. Recently, he has started to bark everytime we go to a playdate. He will be fine at first, but if the other dog(s) do not play with him or do not give him attention he will begin to bark like an insane dog!!! I tell hime no, but he just continues to be crazy. What can I do to stop this behavior?

I know of some dogs that will just bark when they play or want another dog to play. To stop you should pull your puppy away to stop then let play after they are quite, always reward (verbal or treat and verbal) the behavior you want. Works like a timeout. If you yell your dog thinks that it is ok to be loud because you are "barking" too.

Maybe u can try 2 be more gentle with him. Instead of scolding him when he barks, do something else. Maybe u can give him a treat if he stops barking. Thats how i got my dog 2 stop barking.
