Q: Bad situation with a golden retriever

November 4, 2010 | By Santana2010 | 2 answers | Expired: 1441 days ago

I have a big problem now because my mom had an stroke and I have a little son.
I need to give my dog, a 18 month golden retriever to a shelter since I can't take care of everything, As a matter of fact, I leave in a rent house and he is breaking the floor at the kitchen that the owner just replaced it a while ago.
I need help if it is possible because I don't want to take him to a place where it might be the wrong place.
I came to this country 3 years ago and I love pets but my situation has become too hard for myself only.
Can you please tell me what or where can I bring him?
Thank you so much for your help,
Karla.

karla if you do give him to a shelter make sure they are a no kill shelter. if he has papers you could possibly contact the akc to see if they know someone looking for one. i wish i could help more. good luck and i am so sorry about your mom. good luck. it is possible he would grow out of the destructive stage

I would fist check on line to find a breed rescue. I am sure there are some for golden retrievers. You can also find no-kill shelters in your area on Zootoo and on Petfinder. I think you can post ads on here too. Just be sure that you check the new owner out. Get some info about where they live (rent or own) and if they have a vet that they can use as a reference. Good luck and I hope your mom is doing ok.
