Q: Are there any types of "bones" for cats?

My 14 week old kitten likes to chew on my hands and I was wondering if they make any thing like bones for cats or if anyone had any helpful ways to make her quit chewing on me. Her teeth are starting to get a little sharp.

I've had a couple of cats that loved to chew on "bones". I have one who carries a Nylabone Flexible Chicken-flavored bone for small dogs (petite size I think) around with her all the time. Its quite comical-looking. Its not an edible bone, just a flavored chew toy & the vet says its fine - strange, but fine.

This may have more to do with the kitten wanting to play.  When it starts to bite FREEZE. Gently but firmly say "No" and set the kitten/cat down. Do this every time they will learn that this behavior is not okay.
You also NEVER want to play fight/box with a kitten. It teaches them to bite

my silly started bitting at that age too and still does but she always gives kisses when shes done she is probably teething and they do make greenies dental bones for cats otherwise it always helped to flick my fosters ear a little just enough to get them preoccupied

I use N-bones for my ferrets and found these for cats:

N-Bone Cat Chew Treats--N-Bone products are made from all natural ingredients. There are no preservatives or artificial colors in any N-Bone product and will not stain carpet or upholstery. They are totally edible and highly digestible. N-Bone products are veterinarian approved and recommended. N-Bone Cat Chew Treats have a taste cats love. It is low in ash and magnesium. Taurine is added.

I don't know of any "bones" for cats, but there are cat chew toys. Just do a search online for whatever store you buy from for 'cat chew toys'. Here's a link to one: www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=14282

Christi - She didn't do this in foster care, so I wonder why she has developed this habit, unless she's just exploring her environment. Have you tried spraying bitter apple on your hands and arms? The other thing I wonder is if she thinks she's a dog since she and Ginger were such buddies...I have taught Ginger not to mouth, but not sure what to do with a cat since Max does not bite.

I'm not aware of any bones for cats either. I recently took in a kitten that was thrown out of a vehicle, so she's very eager to please. She used to get a little excited and bite. I would tell her 'no' two times and on the third time, I would flick her nose with my fingers. Not hard...just enough to get her attention. When she quit, I rewarded her by petting her or giving her a treat. It didn't take long for her to connect the dots.

I am not sure if they have any kind of special cat bones for them to chew on but maybe just try some hard treats or even the soft ones and hopefully she will stop chewing on your fingers. When they chew on your fingers, that really hurts! lol! Good luck with finding some more answers on this question.

Some people use Bottles that mist out water for when their cats bite and other say "Owww!" when the Cat play bites. They also sell many types of toys for cats.
