Q: Are baby wipes ok to use on puppies?

Stephanie

I have a 4 1/2 month lab puppy and was wondering if anybody knows if it would be safe for me to use natural baby wipes to clean of his little paws and face when dirty.

We used baby wipes on our pups. I know how quickly they can get messy. I think its okay. Try to use the nonscented ones without lotions and stuff. I don't recommend them for bathing, but wiping up messes I think is fine.

Good luck!

I wouldnt use any human products on animals because even if it doesnt affect them now, after continued use it could cause skin and fur problems. If you want something like baby wipes, they have puppy wipes at the pet stores. Theyre for in-between baths for puppies. I personally just use a wet wash cloth and if it doesnt clean the spot then i know my pup needs a full bath.

I wouldn't recommend using products for humans (even babies) since our skin is much different from dog's skin. Also, the baby products are usually highly scented and have chemicals (make sure to read the labels carefully). I really like the EarthBath grooming wipes. They are not made with crazy chemicals and come in a couple scents as well as a hypoallergenic verion. I also like that they do not remove the flea/tick products. They also have face wipes. You can check them out at www.earthbath.com. They don't sell online but you can see their retailers (both online and in-store). Of course you could also use Dr. Bronner's Castile Soap for sensitive skin - dilute it in a small bucket/bin and dip your puppy's paws in, rub to clean and then dry with a towel. I wouldn't recommend using the soap too close to your puppy's eyes, though I'm sure you wouldn't anyway. www.drbronner.com
Good luck with your adorable puppy!
