Q: Anyone know anything about Quail?
My brother just got 2 quail chicks, they are probably about 3 or 4 weeks old we're thinking, we aren't sure because our grampa gave them to him. Right now, they're small enough to keep in a decent sized birdcage, and we plan on building a sort of quail coop soon that they can move into. We are new to quail raising, does anyone have any suggestions for us? We have special food for them, we clean their water about 2 or 3 times a day, we have a small thing of dirt for them to eat (because we know they have to have grit in their diets for digestion), and there's a good lamp for them. Anything we should know or suggestion?

I used to have two quails but one escaped and the other died sadly but yes i agree you should get a bigger cage and they also like dirt so i suggest using nice good dirt not hard dirt but like soil like dirt they really like it and start digging in it you should also go to the some pet should feed them sunflowers, sesame, buckwheat, trailing beans and the list goes on but one thing i would recomend is that during those cold days (winter)you should definitly out them in your home this is how my last quail died she got a cold and when i fed her warm water she would just stick her feet in and try make herself feel better the next day she was just laying there dead :(
