I love animals and i keep making deals with my husband. My first deal is that if i can lose 30 lbs then i can get a puppy. Well i just made a deal with him that if i can lose 100lbs (which is my long term goal) he said i can get a Teacup Pig. But im not sure if they are legal to own in Ny state. Also, i was wondering if anyone knew where to get them and about how much they cost. I know when they first came out they were around $1000.00 but saw that in Ohio they were selling them for $600. Was wondering if there was a place in Ny state to get them for around $600.

they seem to be illegal in new york, but you may want to call your local humane society to get a second opinion.
whenever i want to lose weight quick, i just limit myself to 800-1000 calories and get 3 servings of dairy in a day - but only 3. something about this dose makes the weight just fall off. coffee, dehydrated fruit, and cereal are perfect snacks. especially the cereal b/c it's easy to get anemic when dieting.

I am in New York and I know that in my area you can not own one as a house hold pet. I am not sure if different Counties may have different laws. Apparently where I am they are still considered "live stock" and need special permits to be owned. They are not allowed in urban or suburbarn areas. I have seen a few pot bellies in my area but they may not be legal. Check with your local municipal center (such as a animal control) or even the animal shelters.....they may be able to tell you if these little cuties are legal to own in your area. I would also be real cautious of breeding as well. These little piggies are quite the "in" thing at the moment and there are many irresponsible breeders who care only about your money and nothing else. Whatever you do be sure you are in it for the long haul. Little piggies are entitled to a forever home ad love is very important...but so is vet care, feeding, and psychological well-being.
