Q: Any tips on clipping rabbit's black nails?
Sep 01, 2008
If you touch under the nail you should feel a dip down or scrachy area where the nail is thicker all of the sudden. Cut a litte before that area and you should be as low as you can without being to close to hurting him/her! =) I have two dogs and one cat with all black nails and I'm thinking if it works for them it should work for your rabbits =) Good luck!

just be very careful and take off just the pointy tips, you can also use a file to smooth down ruff edges.
the other thing is, be very careful when restraining a rabbit for any procedure. a nervous bunny can kick out during a struggle and break their own backs

try holding a flashlight under the nail to see if that will help you see the cuticle. you might want to try a vet for small animals. I take my cats to a cat hospital and they also accept small animals like rabbits.
