Ask petsitter to email you photos daily. I travel often but luckily can travel with my dogs.

I had to leave for most of a month this year, but I had a great sitter stay here and I talked with her every night. Even when there were some problems, I felt better knowing what was going on.

We feel better traveling knowing that we really trust the people who care for our animals. Ask your vet and all your friends and neighbors. If it's someone you don't know set up an introductory visit with them to see how they act around your pet.

Some sitters will stay at the house overnight if you're concerned about your pet being lonely or leave a unwashed t-shirt on the bed so your pet can still smell you. I know my cats love to sleep on anything left on the bed!

Ask your sitter to send email updates or pictures to your phone.

Just keep asking around. If someone you know has found a great pet sitter, they will be more than happy to tell you about it.

i think that if you love your animals which i know you do dont worry. things can be hard we know this. spend as much time with them as possible and if your not there theres places that do boarding and im pretty sure family members or close friends that you trust wouldnt mind coming over once in a while to take care of them

To make it easier on me, I have their pictures on my cell phone or if we're taking the camera, we snap a couple new pictures of them just before we leave so we can see them every night.

I have someone in my family come and stay with them at my home so they dont have to leave and go through not only me leaving but having to leave thier home too - I am gulity of calling and checking on them every day too! I have also had them ride with when I get dropped off and picked up from the airport, makes me feel better and they enjoy the ride too!

What about getting a webcam so that you can see them on the camera each night. You would just access from your computer.

I would leave them with someone I trust and know would care for them as I would. If you travel with your computer or photo phone, have them send a photo of a daily event to you. I also call alot just to check in. I always hear one or more of my critters in the back ground.

I always brought pictures when I traveled (before my daughter was born and I still worked). I told myself that they had a good home because I had a job and could afford to take care of them. I gave lots more attention when I came home and had the pet sitter give special treats; so they probably looked forward to my leaving (ha ha).

maybe you could bring one of their toys and a picture with you.
