Q: Any experience with adrenal disease in ferrets?

I have a 4 year old neutered male ferret with adrenal disease. He's had some hair loss and is urinating more frequently but is otherwise acting normally. It is recommended that he receive injections of Lupron Depot for the remainder of his life. Rather than pay for the meds as well as a vet visit I've decided to order the meds online (easy to do if you have a prescription). However, I need to know a dosage. There is also the option of giving a 1-, 3-, or 4-month injection and I'm not sure which to go with. Does anyone have any experience with this?

The script your vet gives you should have the recommended dosage on it. If for some strange reason it doesn't, just call and ask your vet how much he or she prescribed as different situations require different dosages, so no one can answer the dosage question but your vet. I had a friend who had a ferret but I don't personally have any ferret experience. Here's a good website that may answer your other question. miamiferret.org/about_lupron.htm
Good luck to you.
