Q: Am I allowed only to get one sample the entire month?

Yes, until you have enough points to be at the next Zootoo level. I think every 2500 points you have, you attain the next level. Each additional level, you can have one more sample a month.

I've read somewhere on the site that the amount of samples you can ask for depends on your point total

Zoocomers get 1 sample per month.
Zoophytes get 2 samples per month.
Zoowise get 3 samples per month.
Zoonatics get 4 samples per month.
Zoomasters get 5 samples per month.
