Q: African Elephants

This is a random question but maybe someone will know the answer. Everytime I go to a zoo or amusement park with animals, there are never any African elephants, they're always Asian. Even in the Africa section of Busch Gardens, the elephants are Asian. Does anyone know why African elephants are never or very rarely in captivity?

i really don't know maybe they died. but so many zoos are getting smarter and sending them to sanctuaries. i hope you get the answer i would like to know too
