there might be something wrong with it that the mother can since.

How old is it?

If it is young I would sugest going to the store and getting a little bottle and some kitten milk if the mother isnt going to feed it.

Sometimes a mother abandons a kitten if she instinctively knows there is something wrong with it. However, if this is her FIRST litter she just might be confused. Call your vet and see if they can help. if you don't the kitten might die. Try feeding it kitten milk, every department store sells a brand of it in the pet supplies.

I am hoping that you were able to get some food into your little one before I sat down to write this.
If you don't have any formula and/or way to feed a tiny kitten who is not eating you can try a touch of honey mixed with slightly warm water on a q-tip. Place a little on the end and try to get the kitten to lick it. If that doesn't work GENTLY touch it to it's little nose and front teeth. If you can get it to start licking or sucking place it back with the mother. Sometime you just need to "prime their little pumps"
