My dog had six puppies, and she has lost a LOT of weight. How can I help her get back to a healthy weight? (I can see her ribs!)

she needs to see a vet. whenever your dog gives birth, she should see a vet, but especially if something appears wrong after - like the weight loss. the puppies also need a check up.

Yes, she should have a check up after giving birth to make sure all is well. Feeding a good protein puppy food and a high calorie supplement such as Nutri-cal will help her put weight back on. All females after giving birth will lose some weight, especially during whelping because the pups take a lot out of her. It is usually ideal to start the mother on a puppy food a couple months prior to delivery to prevent a large weight loss, but starting her on it now will help.
