I am reposting this to calrify my question. I'm not asking what the cost for adoption is; rather I'm asking what the rate of adoption is. Specifically, the number of cats and dogs adopted out compared to the number received.

I'm interested to know what the average is, and if we are making any headway with a greater rate of adoption. If you work in a shelter, do you know what the trend is at your local shelter? Has th rate increased or decreased?

Do you do check vet references? Clear with landlord? Criminal background checks I realize would probably be cost prohibitive. Do you cross check with any lists of people who have abused or neglected animals? Verify previous adoption history? Ask… more ›

We have several pets on our page that have been adopted but we can't get the adopters to take them off when they get home. Any suggestions? We give them the certificate with instructions.
