Watsonville City Animal Control

As part of Animal Services Association, I've heard this shelter has been negligent in caring for some of its animals. Some have died due to lack of adequate medical care. Cages have not been cleaned on a regular basis, animals' bedding has not been changed when needed, and staff has ignored volunteers' pleas to help certain animals.

Pros: The Animals are Great!

Cons: Needs to be cleaner, staff needs to check on animals' health and welfare, cages needs to be kept clean

The shelter is located at a good easy access spot. That's the good news. The staffing and space is very inadequate for the large number of animals they get in and good care is difficult.There should be a Spay and Neuter clinic right next door as pet overpopulation is not even being addressed in this backwoods town. Volunteers and foster homes are sorely needed for the animals.

Pros: It's there to take in homeless animals

Cons: way too small for the volume of animals
