Medical Catastrophes You Wouldn’t Wish On Any Family

When you’re angry at someone, you will often send curses at them and their family. These curses are not real. They are you just blowing off steam. But even in the worst cases, there are certain things that you wouldn’t wish on even your worst enemy. Medical catastrophes are one of these categories. You never want to have one of these happen to you or anyone else in the world if possible. Nonetheless, they do happen.

Some of these catastrophes are things that can be avoided. Others are just a matter of fate. Consider something like medical malpractice. What about childhood diseases? And then there are freak accidents that occur every day all around the world. In all of these instances, some aspect of health via a medical facility or medical condition is in place.

Medical Malpractice

An injury caused by medical malpractice is a particularly terrible occurrence. You are supposed to feel safe, comfortable, and trusting as soon as you go into a hospital environment. But if a doctor does something negligent, it can potentially affect a person for the rest of their lives. In certain instances, it can even cause death.

Because of this, you would never want a medical malpractice occurrence to happen to even someone that you hate. It’s not always possible to avoid medical malpractice issues because they are so infrequent and don’t always have a consistent cause.

Childhood Diseases

One of the most tragic things that can happen to a family is if someone comes down with a childhood disease. In some cases these are genetic. In other cases, they may have caught a bacterial infection or virus that causes an eventual breakdown of their body. You never want to see children suffer, and many times, there is not even any cure for the diseases after they are diagnosed. All you can do is pray for the release from suffering for everyone involved.

Freak Accidents

Freak accidents do happen, and they can feel like it is so backward from what should happen in life. For example, every year, children get injured in freak accidents at baseball games. A baseball hitting a child in the stands can cause serious injury, and everyone nearby feels the pain of such an occurrence. Even if you try and protect everyone everywhere, there are still going to be things that happen with life-changing consequences, and no one is really at fault.

So even when you do get angry at people and bring down some lighthearted insult from your mind to throw at them, recognize that you are never doing this in a way that you actually want significant harm to happen to them.

5 Biggest Mistakes People Make When Drinking

Although drinking is legal, and an acceptable addition to many different social situations, it doesn’t mean that it always leads to positive results. Alcohol should be consumed intelligently; otherwise, it can lead to severe consequences and even result in criminal charges.

Here are some of the most important things that you should avoid at all costs when drinking alcohol.

Driving

Under no circumstances should you operate a vehicle after consuming alcohol. Even if you only consume a few glasses, you may feel like you’re ok to drive; however, the law doesn’t agree.

One of the biggest causes of deaths on the road is drunk driving. When you get behind the wheel after drinking, you’re not only putting yourself in danger but everyone else on the road as well.

If you drink, you should arrange a ride either by cab or with a designated driver.

Calling an Ex

There’s nothing like a few glasses of alcohol to get you feeling sentimental. Despite what your head may be telling you, you should not pick up the phone and dial your ex. Now is not the time to rehash the past.

Alcohol has a funny way of making you feel like suddenly everything is clear, when, in fact, you lack more clarity than you realize. No matter how much you may be convinced that it’s time to pick up the phone, you should wait until the next day. More than likely you’ll be relieved you didn’t make the call!

Going on Social Media

Social media, much like calling your ex, is something better left to sobriety. When you’re drinking, you have a lack of filter and may say things you regret.

You may end up posting photos or comments that you don’t remember posting. You’re better off putting your phone away completely when you start drinking.

Taking Prescription Medication

It’s vital that you never mix prescription medication with alcohol unless your doctor gives you permission. Not only can it lessen the effects of whatever medication you’re on, but it can also have the opposite effect. In some cases, it may amplify the effects of alcohol and leave you incapacitated.

Failing To Drink Water

Water is vital for your well-being with or without alcohol. However, when you’re drinking, it’s especially important. Alcohol dehydrates your body and can be dangerous when combined with heavy sun.

If you’ve ever felt a pounding headache the day after drinking, it’s a result of dehydration. Be sure that you are alternating a glass of water with each glass of alcohol.

By avoiding these dangerous mistakes and consuming in moderation, you can maintain a healthy relationship with alcohol and hopefully avoid unnecessary mishaps.

How Can I Make my Laundry Smell Good Without Harsh Chemicals

If you’ve ever pulled your clothes out of the machine and sunk your nose into them, you’ll appreciate the importance of smell in confirming your clothes are really clean.

Certainly, the right aroma can be intoxicating and can stay present throughout the day. But, have you ever stopped to consider what creates this effect?

The short answer is harsh chemicals. Fabric softener and other washing products are full of chemicals that will enhance the smell. However, these potentially irritating chemicals will be in constant contact with your body and may have long-term side effects.

That’s why you need to consider if a nontoxic laundry soap is the right option for you. The good news is that there are other options:

The Natural Alternative

You’ll want to look for a product that says ‘biodegradable’. Even better, the product will say ‘no bleach’, or ‘NPE free’.

These types of specially formulated laundry detergent don’t have harsh chemicals, but will still clean your clothes and leave them smelling good. This is true even if you’re dealing with smelly sportswear.

Lavender

Add 10 drops of lavender essential oil to a spray bottle of water and spray each item of clothing before you put it into your machine. You don’t need to add detergent as the rubbing motion of garments in your wash agitates dirt and removes it.

The lavender water will leave your clothes clean and smelling great. If you’re not a fan of lavender, then rose, or something similar will have the same effect.

Citrus

Citrus oils can be used in the same way as lavender. The difference it is best to mix these with one cup of bicarbonate of soda, ½ cup borax, and one cup of white vinegar. 20 drops of citrus essential oils should be sufficient.

Then simply add it to your wash in the same way you would any other detergent.

Wool Balls

You can actually make these yourself, although purchasing them is also a viable option.

Simply wrap some 100% wool yarn around two of your fingers, at least 12 times. Slide it off and tie it to stop it unraveling. You can then make 3 more and slide each one into one leg of some pantyhose. Tie a knot between each ball and then pace the string of wool balls in the washing machine.

They’ll then need to go through the dryer before you add 3 drops of your preferred essential oil and use them with your washing.

Vinegar

Vinegar has a harsh smell. But, it can be combined with the essential oil of your choice to make an aromatic and pleasant smell.

Simply add a little to your washing cycle with 3-4 drops of essential oil, the result will be impressive.

DIY Soap

Grate one bar of soap, or put it into a food processor to ensure it is really fine. You can then mix it with 2 cups of washing soda and 20 drops of any essential oil, you can choose the aroma that you like the most.

Once ready you should store it in an air-tight jar and use as you would any other detergent.

4 Times You Should Take Your Kids To See a Specialist Immediately

Your kids’ health has got to be your top priority as a parent. Sometimes when you diagnose that there’s an issue, there’s something that you can do as a parent quickly to alleviate symptoms or allow the relief or release of the situation. Other times, you should take your kids to see a specialist immediately.

So what are some of these times when the specialist is appropriate? If your kids are having trouble with her eyesight, you need to go to an optometrist. If your kids have ear aches that won’t go away, you need to see a doctor. If your children have behavioral problems that are seriously outside typical norms for their age group, seeing a specialist is your best choice. And, if your children are having trouble communicating at the right ages, going to see a specialist about speech therapy can be a positive benefit for the rest of their lives.

Trouble With Eyesight

Kids don’t necessarily know when their eyesight is terrible. That’s why you should take them to eye exams regularly because they won’t have the language to tell you that something is an issue. Especially once they get in school, they should have regular eye exams so you can say for sure if they can see instructions at the front of the classroom well enough.

Earaches That Won’t Go Away

If your child has an earache that won’t go away, that is a good sign that you need to go see a doctor immediately. Earaches that only last a day or two usually aren’t that big of a deal. Especially if you live in a place that has cold winters, it’s no surprise that in earache will come and go. But if it’s consistent and painful, it may be a sign of something that needs to get diagnosed by a medical doctor and treated as soon as possible.

Behavioral Problems

At what point should you take your child to see a therapist if they have behavioral problems? This is a big question. Sometimes kids are just acting out within a realm of normalcy. Other times, their behavior is such an outlier from usual that it can be a great benefit talking to a specialist as soon as possible.

Speech Therapy

It’s imperative that your children can communicate their thoughts effectively to you and the rest of the world around them. Because of this, it’s something to pay close attention to if they don’t seem to be learning how to use communication skills as soon as they should. Because of this, parents can send their kids to speech therapy classes to ensure that they are getting all of the attention that they need on this crucial part of their development.

4 Things Everyone Should Do At Least Once A Year

All it takes is letting a few seemingly innocent tasks slide before life can start to pile up on you. The more that your to-do list starts to grow, the harder it can start to become to keep tabs on what you’re falling behind on.

While you may not be able to fit in absolutely everything, it’s possible to finish the most important things. Here are the essentials that everyone should do at least once a year.

Get Your Health Checked

Too many people wait until symptoms arise before they see a doctor. However, one of the best ways to ensure that you live a long and healthy life is to get regular checkups.

Checkups aren’t limited to seeing your regular practitioner. You should also get your eyes checked, see a dermatologist, and see a dentist. By keeping up with your state of health, you’ll be more likely to catch potential issues early enough.

Take a Trip

Far too many people make the mistake of seeing travel as a luxury rather than a necessity. However, travel is incredibly helpful for providing balance in your life. When you go on a trip, you escape the daily hustle and bustle of your life.

As a result, you’re more productive at work, and less likely to burn out in your personal life as well. The human psyche wasn’t made to work nonstop without taking pauses. Taking at least one trip a year allows your mind to rest and restore itself.

Check Your Credit Score

Your credit score is a critical part of being an adult. It’s important that you are in good standing with the credit bureaus. Your credit score will determine your ability to get a loan if you ever want to buy a new business, home, or vehicle.

It’s important to check your credit score at least once a year to determine whether there are any unfavorable marks on your score which need to be dealt with. Sometimes you may have missed a payment or have something in collections that you weren’t aware of. The longer that it stays on your credit score, the more it will negatively affect you down the road.

Deep Clean Your House

A lot of people consider themselves clean. However, there is a difference between cleanliness and tidiness. Your home may be well organized and free of clutter, however underneath it all may be a considerable amount of dust and grime.

Make sure to deep clean your house at least once a year to get the spots that may not be so obvious. By doing it once a year rather than once a decade, you’ll create much less work for yourself.

4 Things to Remember When Moving to a New House

No matter the reason for the move, relocation can be a massive undertaking. After all, it’s a process that requires a considerable investment of time and effort to do. And it’s not uncommon for even the best of us to be overwhelmed by the amount of work that it usually entails. But despite the difficulties that it presents, there are ways to make the transition from one location to the other much more efficient and manageable. To this end, here are a few things to remember when moving to a new house.

  1. You don’t need to do everything yourself

A common mistake that a lot of people make when relocating is thinking that they have to take on the task on their own. But even with a tight budget, there are specialist removal companies Cheltenham offers whose services are generally affordable and won’t cost you a small fortune to acquire. So before you start planning for your move, it’s a general rule of thumb to do some research first on professional movers and consider all available options. It may be a tedious task, but it is well worth doing since you’re far more likely to find inexpensive alternatives and better deals.

  1. Set a reasonable schedule for the move

As exciting as it may be to move, we must never forget that it requires a commitment of not just money but time in preparation. As such, it makes sense to set a reasonable schedule for the relocation. Be sure to give yourself enough time to pack and settle everything before you leave. In this way, you’ll avoid the stress of falling behind and, as a result, have an easier time dealing with the move.

  1. Don’t forget to notify essential contacts

It’s not hard to forget about informing all necessary contacts such as the bank or your utility provider when moving. However, it’s crucial to let them know of your change of address as early as you can. In this way, not only will you have all the amenities that you need as soon as you’ve relocated to your new home but it’s also one less thing that you need to deal with.

  1. Make a checklist

It’s a well-known fact that keeping a list makes it easier to remember what we need to do. As such, it’s a general rule of thumb to always have a checklist when moving. In this way, you’re far less likely to forget anything and maintain a high level of productivity throughout the relocation process as a result.

As exciting as it might be to move to a different home, relocation is not easy. In fact, the entire process can be a struggle to get through. But by carefully planning your move and leaving no stone unturned, not only will you make things easier on yourself but you’re also a lot less likely to encounter unexpected problems.

3 Tips For Managing Your Own Rental Properties

If you’re interested in adding some variety to your investment portfolio, you’re likely considering getting into real estate. One of the most common ways people do this is by getting an investment home loan and purchasing a piece of property that you then rent out.

While this can be a great financial move, it can also be challenging for those who are wanting to manage their properties but don’t necessarily have experience doing so. To help those in this type of situation, here are three tips for managing your own rental properties.

Understand What Managing Rental Properties Entails

Before you jump right into managing a rental property, it’s good to know exactly what this job is going to entail for you.

According to Erin Eberlin, a contributor to The Balance Small Business, being a property manager really means that you’ll be managing three aspects of this investment from a business standpoint. You’ll be managing the tenants you’re renting to, the property you own and any of its maintenance, and all of the finances that go into making this business venture work.

If you don’t think you can handle all of these aspects on your own, you can always hire a property management company to take care of some of this business for you. But if you’re wanting to be very hands-on with your investment, just be prepared for the reality of the tasks you’re taking on.

Spend The Time To Learn How To Be A Great Property Manager

When you’re new to real estate investing and management, you might think that it’s something that you can easily pick up without putting too much effort toward it. And while this might be the case for some people, if you really want to take care of your investment, you’ve got to put in the time to learn how to be a great property manager.

To help you in doing this, Brandon Turner, a contributor to Forbes.com, advises that you really invest some of your time into learning about property management. Read books, listen to podcasts, talk with other property managers in your area, or join online forums so you can learn from others’ experiences as well as get answers to any specific questions you may have.

Make Finding Great Tenants Your Priority

One thing that can make being a property manager so much easier, despite everything else that might be going on with your investment, is if you’re able to find great tenants to occupy your property.

To ensure you’re always filling your property with the best possible tenants, Andrew Beattie, a contributor to Investopedia.com, recommends that you always call to check their references and that you run a credit check. These two things can give you almost all the information you’ll need to know if someone is responsible and trustworthy enough for you to rent to.

If you’re going to start managing your own rental property or properties soon, consider using the tips mentioned above to help you do so successfully.

Why online slots are so fun

When was the last time you played on a fruit machine? If it’s been a while then be sure to check out Mega Reel.

A slightly aged pastime, the humbler slot machine that sits patiently, flickering and flashing in the corner of pubs, chip shops and bars, is becoming a little neglected these days. Once a focal point of your local pub, the slot machine is now collecting a little more dust than it pound coins and it’s giving out more unexpected noises that it is jackpots.

How has this happened? Well, to put it simply, the internet has challenged the once thriving slot machine and beaten it. Beaten it at it’s own game, you might say. For the developers of such games and the casinos behind them, have all moved online into a whole new world of online gambling that has made the offline format a little defunct.

There are many reasons for this sensation. You can throw smartphones, marketing and more into mix. However, the biggest reason for the shift from offline pub-based slot machines, being taken over by online slots, is simply because online slots are so fun.

To educate a few and to celebrate the online format with those you already have a spin on the many online slot game titles that are out there, we wanted to have a go at explaining just why online slots are so fun. Here goes nothing…

Endless amounts of titles to choose from

When you walk into the pub, head to the bar and get your drink, you might fancy a flutter with that bit of spare change in your pocket. If this is the case, what options do you have?

Well, in all honesty, not many options at all. Just that one, aforementioned flickering slot machine. Whereas online, the choice is unbelievable. New titles are being release every single day for you to try your luck at, thanks to a competitive environment in which the online gambling industry is thriving.

High quality graphics

Gone are the days of the simple fruit being the main attraction of a slot game.

Nowadays, slot games that use these age old symbols are typically classified as ‘retro’ or ‘old school.’ With technological advancements have come amazing graphics and most new online slot games are now 3D experiences. Add to that smooth animation, and the overall production value of the online slot game has never been so fun.

Ambitious and interesting themes

Sometimes we wonder just how developers come up with some of the themes in slot games these days, with seemingly any concept under the sun – or indeed beyond it – able to be worked into a fun online slot game.

Of course, classic slot game themes such a fruit machines, Luck o’ the Irish and Ancient Egypt will pop up regularly, but add to that the likes of zombie apocalypses, Hollywood movies, cyberspace and underwater slot themes to name but a few.

With great themes comes a more ambitious product over all, with many slots now finely weaving a fun narrative into the gameplay, too.

9 Tips To Improve Your Hotel Website Strategy In 2019

The hotel industry is fiercely competitive. With so many holidaymakers and travel agencies promising low-cost deals all year long, it can be tough to get customers to book out your rooms for their stay.

While it may be difficult to find the time to improve a marketing strategy and hotel website in between all other day-to-day operations of running the business, it’s not impossible.

This article will explain various methods you can start using today and begin boosting that bottom line. Even though customers are looking for great deals, they need to be able to find your hotel and actually see your offers in the first place.

So with all this in mind, here are 9 tips to improve your hotel website strategy in 2019.

1. Drill Down On Your Guest Persona

Before anything else, you need to know your target audience. What are your guests looking for? Why should they stay with you over other hotels? What’s the purpose of their stay?

These are just some of the basic questions that you can ask yourself and create a guest persona. This will be at the centre of everything you do for the website and future marketing activities.

All this data becomes incredibly valuable later down the line, giving you the ability to personalize the user experience and increasing the number of bookings.

2. Design An Awesome Landing Page

SEO and content marketing will only get you so far. But what happens when you manage to convince guests to check out your hotel website? Without an awesome landing page, all your other efforts will go to waste.

To ensure this doesn’t happen, your website copy must connect with your guests with call to actions strategically placed within (more on call to actions later). Use strong headlines and include lots of images to reinforce any points you want really hitting home.

3. Use Your Company Values To Connect With Guests

If a guest has a choice between your hotel and a competitor and there’s not much to separate you, chances are they going to choose the hotel that shares the same values.

They want to feel like they belong at your hotel. Strong values will put you above the competitor in the guest’s mind.

If you don’t have strong values, you will lose business. It’s much easier to feel at home somewhere that does.

4. Make Sure You Have A Fast Hotel Website

Not only does website speed have an impact on where your hotel ranks in Google, but it also affects how likely a guest is to book a room at your hotel.

eConsultancy research has shown that 3 out of 4 guests will leave your hotel’s website for a competitor if you have a slow website. This is because guests are looking for a smooth booking experience and that starts from the initial landing page loading.

Use tools like Google’s PageSpeed Insights to see how fast your website loads. Use their tips to improve the speed and keep your guests happy.

5. Keep It Simple But Effective

More doesn’t always mean better. In fact, when it comes to hotel website marketing, keeping the design and navigation simple is far better at creating a more satisfying experience for potential guests.

Give your customers easy access to room and booking information and availability and they will be grateful.

If your website is easy to navigate, it’s easy for a guest to book a room.

6. Give Them Lots Of Content To Explore

According to Digital Authority, creating a lot of content on your hotel website is very effective at driving sustainable traffic to your website.

There are two types of content you need to put out on a regular basis: images and descriptions.

In terms of images, they need to be of the highest quality. This doesn’t mean stepping outside and using the camera on your smartphone. You must hire a professional to take images that tell a story to your guests.

For the descriptions, this can be anything from what you include on your inclusive breakfast menu to the history of the building the hotel is situated in. The finest details are so important for convincing guests to book a room at your hotel.

7. Go Mobile

25% of all online travel money is generated through mobile devices. If your hotel’s website is not optimized for mobile use, you are missing out on potential guests.

Websites for mobile should have less content than the desktop version. Those that don’t often look the original was just shrunken down and looks like you’re trying to fit too much into a small screen.

This will leave visitors confused and probably causing them to leave your site and book with another competitor.

8. Use Engaging Call To Actions

We mentioned this tip earlier. Your hotel website much use call to actions that make guests want to learn more about your hotel. It can be the difference between someone just generally browsing to making a booking.

For example, when introducing a room and its luxurious views, you would use a call to action such as ‘Learn more about the Executive Suite’. It tells the guest exactly what to do while using attractive language.

If you want to convert viewers to guests, you need engaging call to actions. Not sure where to start? Work with a creative agency that can help you out throughout the process.

9. Drive Home The Benefits

Compare these two hotel websites: Hotel A and Hotel B.

Hotel A lists its features like this:

We have:

  • A spa and fitness centre
  • A golf course
  • Room service

On the other hand, Hotel B lists its features AND benefits like this:

We have:

  • A health spa and fitness centre so you can relieve all the stress from your busy day
  • A golf course so you can network with new clients or enjoy 18 glorious holes in your own time
  • Room service available 24/7 as we understand your day doesn’t always end when the sun goes down

The difference? Hotel B will get guests while Hotel A does not.
